Tottenham Keeper Hugo Lloris Will Demand January Exit If He Doesn’t Start, Arsenal Eyeing Shock Deal

‘Keeper-gate continuing at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham new-boy Hugo Lloris is set for showdown talks with head-coach Andre Villas-Boas and could demand a shock exit in January, it has emerged.

Lloris has been overlooked in the league in favour of veteran Brad Friedel and the French number one was left bemused after fossilised-benchman Carlo Cudicini, 38, started Wednesday night’s League Cup win at Carlisle.

The 25-year-old, who is 16 years Friedel’s junior, has been told that he will not be first choice in the League and may not get his chance even if the American makes a gaff.

Lloris is now considering demanding an early exit from White Hart Lane in January and Spurs’ north London neighbours Arsenal have emerged as shock contenders for his signature.

The Gunners considered rivalling Tottenham for Lloris in the summer but boss Arsene Wenger decided to keep faith in young trio Wojciech Szczesny, Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone.

But with Fabianski injured, both number one Szczesny and Mannone have made high-profile errors already this season and Wenger is weighing-up bringing in an experienced replacement in January.

Lloris tops the Frenchman’s list, with Wenger a known admirer of his compatriot. ‘Le Prof’ publicly defender the stopper, who is captain of Les Bleus, on tv in France after Lloris was first excluded in favour of Friedel.

It remains to be seen if Villas-Boas and Lloris can put their differences aside but Friedel is likely to keep his place for this Saturday’s trip to Manchester United, which will not improve his competitor’s mood.
