According to Italian source CalcioMercato Tottenham are readying a January move for Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic. The 22 year old Bosnian international had been targeted by the North London club over the summer but not deal was forthcoming but it appears and Andre Villas-Boas is still keen on the former Lyon man.

Many had seen Pjanic as a possible replacement for Real Madrid bound Luka Modric but then Tottenham lured Moussa Dembele from Fulham but it seems that Villas-Boas is still looking to add more strength to his White Hart Lane midfielder and a move to do so may be very sensible given that Spurs also opted to offload influential Dutchman Rafael Van der Vaart to Hamburg.

According to this source new Stadio Olimpico boss Zdenek Zeman feels that he can afford to lose Pjanic and therefore a host of clubs may well be interested in the young playmaker, who had a fairly decent first season at Roma despite the Serie A side struggling for much of the campaign.

Pjanic enjoyed three successful seasons in Ligue 1 before his £9m move to Italy.
