Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane is set to be named as the new manager of Turkish side Kasimpasa, according to various reports.

CNN correspondent Tancredi Palmeri broke the news via twitter:

Outspoken Irishman Keane is one of United’s most celebrated players of the Premier League era, making over 320 league appearances for the Red Devils during a twelve-year stay.

Keane captained the Old Trafford club during a sustained period of success that saw them claim several Premier League titles, FA Cups and the Champions League in 1999.

But the former Ireland international has had mixed success in management. After leading Sunderland from 23rd in the Championship to promotion, Keane, 41, struggled in the Premier League and was sacked in his second season in the top-flight with the Black Cats in the relegation zone.

He was appointed Ipswich Town boss in April 2009 but was sacked in January 2011 with the Tractor Boys near the foot of the Championship.

Kasimpasa are based in Istanbul are were promoted the the Turkish top-flight, the Super Lig, last season. They have made a hugely impressive start to the season and currently sit third after six games, ahead of the likes of Fenerbahce and Besiktas.

Rumours are circulating on twitter suggest Keane will be at Saturday night’s home match against Fenerbahce and may sign a contract this weekend.
