Di Matteo admits Belgian striker could return.
Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has admitted that West Brom loanee Romelu Lukaku could return to Stamford Bridge in January.
The 19-year-old joined the Baggies on a season-long deal this summer but the Blues have the option to recall Lukaku in the winter transfer window.
Lukaku has made a big impression for the high-flying Baggies, scoring twice and leading the line with power and pace reminiscent of ex-Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
The European Champions, meanwhile, have just one fit senior striker in Fernando Torres at present, with back-up forward Daniel Sturridge struggling with illness and injuries.
And Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has not ruled out bringing Lukaku back to West London.
“We’ll talk about that in January and see what the situation is,” the Italian told London24.
“He had limited chances here so we sent him out on loan and he is having a good run.”
