David Silva is focused on fighting for more titles after insisting there is no clause in his new contract allowing him to leave for one of the top clubs in Spain.

Silva signed an extension to his current deal at Manchester Cityearlier this month, committing his future to the Etihad Stadium until 2017.

He is concentrating on the quest for silverware and has assured supporters there is no chance he could leave for Real Madrid orBarcelona.

“I renewed my contract because I am happy here,” Silva told Cope radio station. “I hope we will continue to improve and fight for more titles.

“At the moment I am thinking about that, not about the future. I’m only thinking about continuing to play, to enjoy and try to win titles.

“There is no clause in my contract allowing me to leave for Madrid or Barcelona.”

Its no real surprise that David Silva has been linked with a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona given that the City player is about the only member of Spain’s starting eleven who does not play for one of the La Liga giants.

The playmaker renewed his contract at the Etihad earlier this month but rumours have persisted that it includes a special release clause should either of Spain’s premier clubs come calling.

Silva’s outright denial of this will be music to the ears of Manchester City fans, who have seen the winger stand out in the Citizens star-studded team in the past two years.

With the 26-year-old signing on until 2017, Silva looks set to remain at the Etihad until late into his career, past the point where Barca or Real are likely to be interested.
