Old Trafford side keen on Croatian teenager.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is battling it out with Real Madrid for Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Alen Halilovic.
The Croatian 16-year-old is already being compared to Luka Modric – who was a United target this summer before moving from Tottenham to Real Madrid – and is being scouted by Europe’s top clubs.

The 16-year-old made his first-team debut for Dinamo over the weekend against Hajduk Split and he is regarded as one of the best prospects to emerge from Croatian football in recent years.
His playing style has been likened to that of Barcelona star Messi, and reports have claimed that United and Spanish champions Real have been showing an interest.

So we have a talent who is at the same time the next Luka Modric AND the next Lionel Messi, that’s quite some feat. Either way it does appear that a number of Europe’s ‘Elite’ is sitting up and taking notice of the young Croatian who appears to have a very bright future.
Sir Alex Ferguson has made a habit of landing youthful players who he looks to form part of Man United’s long term plans, clearly an ethos he picked up from old friend Arsene Wenger.
The Scot has seen the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, David de Gea and Javier Hernandez make immediate impacts on arrival to the club and one of his summer captures, Nick Powell, scored on his debut.
The 16 year old midfielder is clearly a player who is well thought of but given that Halilovic has only just made his first senior club appearance it may be a little too early to be doling out the superlatives and unrealistic comparisons.
