Man United Line Up £25m January Bid for Unhappy Real Madrid Playmaker Mesut Ozil

Old Trafford side ready to launch move for Bernabeu midfielder.

Man United are reportedly readying a big money move to sign Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil as Sir Alex Ferguson continues his search to add creativity to his midfield.

The German international has seemingly become something of a scapegoat for the Spanish giants faltering start to the season and this culminated in the former Werder Bremen man being hauled off at half-time during Real Madrid’s 5-1 thrashing of Deportivo La Coruna, a move that greatly angered team-mate Sergio Ramos who chose to illustrate his opposition to the substitution by wearing Ozil’s number 10 shirt under his own.

The 23 year old playmaker has been an unreserved success in his opening two seasons at the Bernabeu, notching up 49 assists and scoring 17 goals in the process. However this term has seen Ozil cut a more forlorn figure and rumours of in-fighting in the club’s squad and a breakdown in his relationship with Mourinho has led to growing speculation that the Gelsenkirchen born flair player may push for an exit.

Liverpool have been linked with interest in the Real Madrid assist machine but now Man United are ready to register their interest and are said to be ready to offer around £25m for his services.

Ferguson has been linked with a myriad of playmaker talents over the past 18 months, most prominent among these being Wesley Sneijder and the Scot was apparently very keen on both Luka Modric and Lucas Moura before they completed their respective moves to Real Madrid and PSG.

Indeed it may be that the capture of Modric has left Ozil questioning his position in Mourinho’s first team plans in the long term.

Man United currently rely a great deal on veteran Paul Scholes and do not really possess much in the way of a goal threat with the likes of Michael Carrick, Anderson and Darren Fletcher not being all that attack minded, whilst also not providing a great deal in the way of a link between midfield and attack, being more concerned with keeping hold of the ball.

If Ozil were to look to force a move away from Real Madrid then a move to Old trafford may well be tempt the young German.
