Etihad Stadium side keen on Nou Camp star.
Italian source TuttoMercato reports that Man City are interested in Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets amid speculation that the Spanish international is none to pleased with Tito Vilanova’s decision to bring in Alex Song to challenge for his spot in the Nou Camp starting eleven.
Roberto Mancini does appear to want to further expand his squad and his interest in the 24 year old Barcelona star comes despite the fact that the Italian only recently signed two defensively minded midfielders in the form of Javi Garcia and Jack Rodwell.
The Man City boss already had the likes of Yaya Toure and Gareth Barry in his squad to add that steely edge but that doesn’t appear to mean Mancini can’t target yet another big name signing.
Busquets is in his fifth season as a first team regular at his Catalan side, notching up over 200 appearances and winning a host of accolades. Though well known for his diving the Spaniard is a very able midfield enforcer who is comfortable on the ball and a player that Vilanova won’t be keen to lose.
As yet Song has failed to dislodge the locally born enforcer but the signing of the Arsenal man could clearly lead Busquets to feel his place is under threat.
