Arsenal Chase Playmaker Dubbed the ‘Next Luka Modric’

Emirates Stadium side keen on young Croatian.

Check-In to Barcelona v Real Madrid

TransferMarketWeb report that Arsenal are in pursuit of Croatian youngster Mateo Kovacic, who has been likened to countryman Luka Modric.

The teenage midfielder has impressed many with his mature displays in the Dinamo Zagreb first team and is now the subject of apparent interest from Emirates Stadium boss Arsene Wenger.

18 year old Kovacic helped his side to a domestic title last term, making 43 appearances in all competitions and is now a pivotal member of Ante Cacic’s first team set-up and is already a member of the Croatian Under 21 national team side and has a bright future that will inevitably involve a move away from the Stadion Maksimir.

Wenger clearly has a reputation for getting the most out of young talents but one wonders where Kovacic would fit into his Gunners squad given the wealth of young talent already vying for spots in the first team, that said the Arsenal boss may feel that the Austrian born playmaker is too good a talent to pass up on.
