Arsenal Target Young Quartet as Wenger Plots Move to Strengthen Gunners Squad

Emirates Stadium side eye up up and coming talents.

Check-In to Barcelona v Real Madrid

TransferMarketWeb report that Arsenal are in pole position to land much sought after FC Basel defender Aleksandar Dragovic.

The Metro claim that a raft of clubs including Inter Milan, Roma, Fiorentina, Borussia Dortmund, Werder Bremen, Stuttgart and French side Marseille are all chasing the 21 year old Austrian international.

Though Arsenal have three very able centre backs in Thomas Vermaelen, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, arguably the cover from that point onwards is a little shaky with big Swiss defender Johan Djourou, though very determined and hard-working, being of questionable talent

If Wenger was to experience a defensive injury crisis similar to that which affected his full-backs last term then the North London club could struggle to cope, hence the need to consider moves for back up options.

FC Basel youngster Aleksandar Dragovic has been strongly linked with a move away from the Swiss champions and would clearly jump at the chance of a move to the Emirates Stadium.

The former Austria Vienna centre-back has helped Basel to back to back domestic titles in his two seasons at the club and is a regular in the Austrian national team set-up.
