Given the form shown by Theo Walcott in recent weeks it would appear that the Arsenal man is very keen to stick with the North London club that brought him in from Southampton six and a half years ago. There has been much speculation as to the 23 year old’s future and this has been fueled in part by the fact that Arsene Wenger has frozen the youngster out of his starting line-up.
However this has not prevented the England international from putting in some top notch cameo roles that have seen the Gunners attacker scoring four goals this term. Indeed Walcott further proved his worth to the Emirates Stadium side by scoring and providing an assist just minutes after coming on as sub against West Ham yesterday.
Wenger has been opting to use the likes of Gervinho and Oxlade-Chamberlain in wide roles thus far this term and may in the end give in to Walcott’s demands to be taken seriously as an out and out striker.
Discussions over a new contract had reportedly centred around a hefty pay rise demand from Theo Walcott, though the player has publicly stated that any reluctance on his part of pen a new deal were based on footballing grounds and not financially related.
