The El Clasico is one of the biggest games of the season for most fans and with the sheer amount of talent, from both sides, no pundit can predict the outcome. For years Ronaldinho had been dominating the headlines, his skills, charisma, goals and celebrations made him a global presence in the footballing world.

The 2007 encounter between Barcelona and Real Madrid was highly anticipated, it was unclear whether Ronaldinho would steal the limelight, as he had done all season, or whether Raul, Van Nistelrooy or Robinho would be able to shine for their Madrid side. The player who actually did steal the show was none of the above, the celebrations fell onto the shoulders of 19-year-old Lionel Messi. Messi had just started to make himself a first team player having come up from Barcelona’s youth system, his passion and his skills have now made him one of the greatest players in modern day football.

The game ended in a 3-3 draw and despite Barcelona having the likes of Ronaldinho on the field, Messi was the man who stunned Madrid and became one of few players to net a hat-trick in the classic bout. This moment, along with many others, are proof that Messi is a world class player and at such a young age he managed to create a memorable El Clasico moment.
