Nou Camp side keen to perform yet another Emirates Stadium raid.
Never a side to pass up the opportunity to purchase an Arsenal player Barcelona are now reportedly interested in signing Gunners defensive pair Laurent Koscielny and Bacary Sagna.
For a side that has experienced a great deal of success over the past few years the Nou Camp outfit doesn’t possess all that many centre-backs, indeed there has been a continuous need for Barcelona to use players in makeshift roles to combat injuries suffered by first team choice Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique and Tito Vilanova is keen to correct this issue.
Barcelona see French international Laurent Koscielny as an ideal man to help beef up numbers and if the La Liga giants come calling there is a chance that the former Lorient man will have his head turned by the chance to join former team-mates Alex Song and Cesc Fabregas at the Calatan club.
The 27 year old had a superb season last term, erasing memories of a slightly shaky first year at the North London club, but having missed the first couple of Premier League matches through injury Koscielny has found it hard to unseat Per Mertesacker, with the big German forming a solid pairing with Thomas Vermaelen this season.
Indeed Koscielny has started just two Premier League matches thus far this season and this could fuel speculation about a possible Barcelona switch.
Having voiced his displeasure at the manner in which Arsenal are run it appears Barcelona feel they can also lure right-back Bacary Sagna into an Emirates Stadium exit. The 29 year old is closing in on a return to the first team having spent much of last term out with two separate leg break injuries and there is every chance that the French international will have to fight youngster Carl Jenkinson for his spot in Arsene Wenger’s starting eleven.
Arsenal are reportedly in contract talks with the former Auxerre man but if Barcelona put in an offer and make their interest known then the talented defender may feel the time is right to move on.
Current first choice Barcelona right-back Dani Alves isn’t the same player he was two or more years ago and there has been constant speculation about a possible PSG move for the Brazilian, a move that the former Sevilla man hasn’t entirely ruled out making in the future.
