Chelsea Turn to French International to Help Add Strength In Depth

Stamford Bridge side keen on Marseille forward.

Check-In to Tottenham v Chelsea

Chelsea are monitoring Marseille striker Loic Remy with a view to a possible January move for the French international according to Italian source TuttoMercato.

Roberto Di Matteo may feel the need to beef up his Stamford Bridge attack given that he currently only has two recognised senior strikers in his Blues squad, Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge, with the option of bringing in youngster Romelu Lukaku in from his season long loan at West Brom apparently one the Italian is considering at this juncture.

The 25 year old former Nice forward had two strong seasons at the Stade Velodrome, netting 37 goals in 83 appearances but has struggled to retain a spot in the first team under new boss Elie Baup, forced out due to a strong run of form from Andre-Pierre Gignac.

Loic Remy may well be tempted by a move to the Premier League and the addition of an alternative attacker could well force £50m signing Fernando Torres to continue his progress from flop to a player who can be thought of as a successor to Didier Drogba.
