Emirates Stadium boss ready to swing the axe.

Check-In to England v San Marino

The Gunners hope their January spending will be supplemented by a mini-clearout. Arsenal will continue with their ongoing mission to sell the club’s unwanted stars.

The likes of Nicklas Bendtner, Carlos Vela, Manuel Almunia, Denilson and Park Chu-young all left on a temporary or permanent basis during the summer.

Arsene Wenger certainly has enough deadwood circulating in his Arsenal squad to be able to chop away at it without there being any undue affect on his Emirates Stadium squad. Here are the four players the Daily Mail state are surplus to requirements.

Johan Djourou

Though a hard worker it’s become abundantly clear that the big Swiss international is not of sufficient quality for a side pushing for major honours. Though Arsenal do not possess a great many central defensive options beyond first team trio Per Mertesacker, Thomas Vermaelen and Laurent Koscielny, Arsene Wenger is looking to bring in a more able player to help add strength in depth and as such is ready to listen to offers for the 25 year old.

Djourou has also not played a single minute of Premier League football and is unlikely to be happy with the occasional League Cup run-out at this stage of his career.

Serie A side Roma are said to be interested and if the Stadio Olimpico side were to make a decent offer then Wenger would almost certainly sell.
