White Hart Lane side keen on Danish playmaker.
According to CalcioMercato Tottenham are lining up a move for Ajax starlet Christian Eriksen as part of a White Hart Lane spending spree set that will apparently take place in January.
The North London club have targeted the Danish international and will apparently look to renew their interest in Brazilian midfielder Willian.
A number of Europe’s ‘Elite’ have been linked with interest in the 20 year old midfielder Eriksen but as yet no side has been able to wrestle the young talent from the Amsterdam side but Rodgers is hoping for his board’s backing to make a significant offer for the Ajax starlet.
Eriksen has helped guide his side to back to back Eredivisie titles and has shown a great deal of maturity for both club and country that has not gone unnoticed. Amsterdam Arena boss Frank de Boer will fight tooth and nail to keep the former Odense youth team player but will no that it’s likely that he will lose the talented attacking midfielder sooner rather than later.
Andre Villas-Boas had been looking to land the 24 year old Brazilian international during the summer transfer window and had reportedly moved very close to securing the talented attacker. The White Hart Lane boss brought in a number of deadline day captures but appears to still be looking to bring in the Ukrainian based flair player.
According to this source Tottenham will make a renewed attempt to sign the former Corinthians star in January, a move that may be more likely to succeed if Shakhtar Donetsk are not still in the Champions League by the time the transfer window re-opens.
Willian can play in a variety of roles, either out on the flank or in an advanced midfield role and after five successful seasons at the Donbass Arena, having won a myriad of domestic silverware, one can appreciate why the former Corinthians man would be keen on a move and a fresh challenge.
