Italian source CalcioMercato today report that Arsenal have identified Palermo forward Abel Hernandez as a target as Arsene Wenger goes about beefing up his Gunners attack.

The strong bustling forward who is now into his fifth season with Sicilian side Palermo and would certainly be a player keen on a move to the Premier League side. The 22 year old is a regular in the Uruguayan national team and a player with a great deal of potential.

Currently suffering with a knee injury so perhaps the scouting assessment of the Serie A forward needs more time to report back on the feasibility of such a signing but there is no denying the potential shown by the former Penarol man and the powerful striker certainly has the physical attributes to succeed in the English top tier.

Currently Wenger has been using Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski as his main striking weapons, albeit with the German international in a wide role, and having offloaded Robin Van Persie and Carlos Vela, loaned out Nicklas Bendtner and Park Chu-Young and seemingly having lost faith in Marouane Chamakh the Arsenal boss certainly could do with an injection of firepower such as that which Hernandez could give the North London side.
