Ashley Cole Set to Leave Chelsea After Turning Down Chelsea Contract: Real Madrid & PSG Ready to Tempt Full-Back

Stamford Bridge full-back set to leave West London club.

Check-In to Tottenham v Chelsea

Ashley Cole is ready to walk out on Chelsea at the end of the season after failing to agree terms on a new contract.

Cole is adamant he will not sign the one-year extension on offer and is preparing to speak with foreign clubs, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, in January.

The England defender, back in Roy Hodgson’s team for the World Cup qualifier against Poland on Tuesday night, is a victim of Chelsea’s new policy for players over the age of 30.

It appears that Chelsea are unwilling to entertain the notion of altering their contract structure and as such a one year extension does not seem to be enough to convince Ashley Cole to stay at Stamford Bridge.

This then leaves the Blues having to make one of two decisions. They can either lose the 31 year old left-back on a free transfer at the end of the season, an option they were willing to exercise with Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou and Jose Bosingwa, or they can look to pick up some sort of fee for the former Arsenal man.

It seems unlikely Roman Abramovich will consider the second option as he will clearly be aware of the importance of the England international to Chelsea’s hopes of securing major honours this term, this will then lead a number of sides looking to lure Ashley Cole on a free transfer next summer.

The fact that he will cost nothing will of course mean a huge salary could be offered to Cole and the likes of PSG and Real Madrid will both tempt the talented defender, not least because they are of course managed by Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho, two managers who got the most out of the full-back during their respective terms as Chelsea boss.
