Craven Cottage side keen on Emirates Stadium and Anfield wide-men.
Fulham boss Martin Jol is reportedly monitoring Stewart Downing’s situation at Anfield with a view to a potential January bid for the out of favour Liverpool winger.
The former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough man has seemingly become something of a fall-guy in recent weeks having been publicly admonished over some very average form shown by the England man, form that is by no means an anomaly in the Liverpool squad as a whole, this has led to speculation that Brendan Rodgers is ready to offload the off form wide-man.
Jol has been promised significant funds to invest in his Craven Cottage squad having seen two of his star turns sold in the summer, Clint Dempsey & Moussa Dembele moving to Tottenham, as well as a number of other notable departures that have left his Fulham squad a little light on numbers.
The West London club will apparently make an offer in the region of £8m for the 28 year old, who cost Liverpool a whopping £20m just 15 months ago.
Jol also continues to pursue Arsenal attacker Andrei Arshavin as the Dutch boss seeks to bring in more creative options to provide the ammunition for newly acquired strikers Dimitar Berbatov, Mladen Petric and Hugo Rodallega.
Arsenal are ready to cut their losses on the 31 year old Russian and Fulham will offer up to £2m for the former Zenit St Petersburg winger. Though there has been interest in Arshavin from his native Russia as well as Turkey, the Gunners star is keen to remain in the capital having settled with his young family in the city.
Therefore a move to Fulham may well suit all parties and a January deal seems in the offing.
