Man United Close In On Japanese International as Defensive Midfielder Tells Club He Wants Old Trafford Move

FC Tokyo star hopes to secure Premier League transfer.

Check-In to Poland v England

German source claim that Hideto Takahashi has told his side FC Tokyo that he wants to pursue a move to Man United, who are seemingly interested in the 24 year old defensive midfielder.

The adaptable player, who can play in a central defensive role as well as in the centre of the midfield, is also the subject of much interest in Germany with Bundesliga pair Hamburg and Borussia Monchengladbach keen on the 24 year old.

Man United could certainly do with a steely presence in their midfield but one wonders if Hideto Takahashi is a player of sufficient quality for the job. Sir Alex Ferguson may be scouting the FC Toyko player with a view to a squad player role.

Ferguson doesn’t have any out and out defensive midfield options and if indeed Takahashi has stated his intention to push for a move to Europe one would imagine he has done so knowing that there is genuine interest in his services.
