St Andrews’ side ready to cash-in on young stars.
Blues going for a song? Birmingham face selling off Butland and Redmond
Agents for England and team GB Olympic keeper Butland, 19, and skilful winger Redmond, 18, are now sounding out interest in the pair.
Everton and Southampton both like Butland, while Redmond is on Manchester City’s radar.

Birmingham City are feeling the pinch and have a need to cut costs as the Championship side looks to interest potential new owners by balancing the books with the sale of one or two of their prized assets.
The St Andrews’ club are in talks with at least two parties, including former QPR chairman Gianni Paladini, who has offered £25million, some way below the asking price of £40m, hence the need to sell players to help meet the short-fall.
Jack Butland has been attracting attention for the best part of a year, having enjoyed a meteoric rise from a player being sent out on loan to League Two Cheltenham Town to being named in Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2012 squad and being a regular in the Team GB Olympic side.
A move to Everton or Southampton is sure to interest the teenage keeper, not least because Birmingham City have struggled under the guidance of Lee Clark and currently sit just above the relegation zone.
Wide-man Nathan Redmond has continued to impress and despite being just 18 is already on the fringes of the England Under 21 set-up. A move to Man City would of course tempt the speedy winger but one would wonder if such a move would be in his best interests in the long term.
Young talents struggle to push through at the Etihad Stadium side, just ask John Guidetti, as Roberto Mancini spends bucketloads on big name stars in all positions.
