Etihad Stadium youngster hopes to make the grade.
John Guidetti has put an end to uncertainy over his future by signing a new three-year deal at Manchester City.
“I feel very happy to sign this deal,” said Guidetti, who has been at City since he was 16 and is among the most highly-rated attacking talents in Europe.
“This is a fantastic football club and to sign a new contract is really, really good.
“I’ve been here for a long time and Manchester City are the ones who have helped me grow and develop to the player I am today.
“I am grateful for that. I’ve seen how the club has turned into one of the biggest in the world and it is great to be a part of that.
“It’s going to be competitive with the players we have here, but who doesn’t like being competitive?

John Guidetti is either a supremely confident young man or is he deluded. The 20 year old Swede showed just what he is capable of by knocking in 20 goals in 23 appearances during a season long loan spell in Holland with Feyenoord but has returned to find a host of world class strikers in front of him in the Man City pecking order.
Roberto Mancini has the likes of Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko to choose for to fill his forward positions, four talents that cost a combined fee of over £120m to assemble.
It doesn’t help Guidetti’s cause that all four of those named have managed to score with regularity leaving any striker hoping to make an impact fighting something of a lost cause, to this Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz can attest.
Either way, good luck to the youngster but don’t be surprised if by the summer he is signing a different tune. Guidetti is yet to play a single minute of Premier League action.
