Anzhi to Make £50m Bid for Man United Striker Wayne Rooney

Old Trafford star wanted by Russian big spenders.

Check-In to Chelsea v Man United

Sir Alex Ferguson is still concerned at Wayne Rooney’s inability to eradicate dips in his form

MANCHESTER UNITED could soon be forced to consider cashing in on Wayne Rooney, after mega-rich Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala signalled their intent to bid for the striker.

The England international has largely repaired his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson since handing in a transfer request two years ago.

But the Old Trafford boss is still concerned at the 27-year-old’s inability to eradicate dips in his form, when he should be reaching his peak as a player.

Well this is interesting, but highly unlikely to have any basis in reality. It seems unlikely that Anzhi would even bother attempting such a move as Sir Alex Ferguson will presumably not be interested in selling England international Wayne Rooney and it seems hard to imagine the 27 year old moving to the Dagestan based club.

Though perhaps Rooney has not had the greatest of starts to the current campaign he is pivotal to the Old Trafford club and his recent use as an advanced midfielder could well usher in a new era for the former Everton man as it’s a role he seems more than able to fill.

Last term Rooney finished as the club’s top scorer, scoring a personal high of 27 Premier League goals, it seems likely his goal return will diminish as Robin Van Persie plays as the more dominant striker in Ferguson’s starting eleven.

Whatever the Man United star’s future does hold it’s fairly certain that the chances of a move to the Russian Premier League are slim to none.
