Stamford Bridge man
Chelsea are readying a fresh bid for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini as the Stamford Bridge side step-up their pursuit of the Belgian midfielder.
Billionaire owner Roman Abramovich spent upwards of £80m on new additions over the summer and has seen his side start the Premier League campaign well and the Russian is ready to fund a new offer for the Toffees star that will be comprised of a significant cash offer, reportedly in the region of £20m, as well as the inclusion of forward Romelu Lukaku.
The teenage striker is currently on loan at West Brom but Chelsea do have the option to recall the former Anderlecht man in January and as such will look to use Lukaku as bait in a deal they hope will persuade the Goodison Park side to sell.
Chelsea have been linked with interest in Fellaini for some time and the Everton man stated in a recent interview that he was looking to leave his Merseyside club sooner rather than later and the Blues are set to make a January offer for the rangy midfielder in January.
Cash-strapped Everton may struggle to turn down such an offer and chairman Bill Kenwright will see such a deal as an ideal way to balance the books whilst also boosting the club’s striking options, however any such deal would depend greatly on whether Romelu Lukaku would be open to such a switch.
Roberto Di Matteo and Chelsea technical director Michael Emanelo are in mutual agreement in the club’s interest in Fellaini who has been a consistent performer in the Premier League ever since his £15m move from Standard Liege in the summer of 2008.
