Potters boss Tony Pulis wants to lure St Mary’s hot-shot to the Britannia Stadium.
Italian source CalcioMercato claim that Stoke City are lining up a bid to sign Southampton forward Rickie Lambert.
Potters boss Tony Pulis apparently sees the Saints marksman as a perfect foil for Peter Crouch and given the poor start Southampton have made to their Premier League return, perhaps it’s a move that the 30 year old would conside.
The former Bristol Rovers man has been instrumental in the South Coast side’s rise from League One to the English top tier, netting 88 goals in the past three seasons and Lambert has continued to impress in the Premier League, scoring four goals in seven appearances, including netting against both Man United and Man City.
Southampton currently sit in 18th spot and have the leakiest defence in the top flight and by January if things haven’t improved then perhaps a move to Stoke City will appeal to the prolific forward.
