AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has been sentenced to four years in prison for tax fraud at a court in Italy.

Berlusconi, the former Prime Minister of Italy, confirmed on Thursday that he would not run in next year’s elections as the leader of his People of Freedom (PDL) centre-right party, and was handed his sentence on Friday.

Silvio was none to popular with the AC Milan faithful over his decision to cut costs and sell Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to PSG and one wonders this news leaves his position at the San Siro club.

Clearly Silvio Berlusconi will mount appeal after appeal to avoid seeing jail time but if he fails to do so he would surely have to give up the Rossoneri reins.

As well as owning AC Milan the 76 year old is the current president of the Milan side, having served in the role for a total of 20 years spread over three spells.
