St James’ Park side keen on former Arsenal man.
Newcastle United are reportedly monitoring Lorient striker Jeremie Aliadiere according to TransferMarketWeb with a view to bringing in attacking alternatives to Senegal international pair Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse.
The 29 year old former Arsenal and Middlesbrough forward has experienced something of a return to form at Lorient and appears to be a player Alan Pardew may turn to as he looks to beef up his attack, a move that the Magpies boss sees as crucial given talk of a great deal of interest in top scorer Ba.
Aliadiere struggled to get a foot-hold in the Arsenal first team and after eight years at the North London club he moved to Middlesbrough but again failed to consistently impress and left the Riverside to return to his native France.
The stylish forward has netted two in two games thus far this term but Aliadere’s abilities do extend beyond a prolific strike-rate and Pardew has clearly had success bringing in players from Ligue 1 and may feel that the former French Under 21 international has what it takes to offer the St James’ Park side cover up front, as well as in wide attacking roles.
