Real Madrid Identify Tottenham Winger Gareth Bale as Number One Summer Target

Bernabeu side look to land White Hart Lane wide-man.

Check-In to Southampton v Tottenham

TransferMarketWeb and Spanish source AS report that Real Madrid are stepping-up their pursuit of Tottenham winger Gareth Bale.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly made the Welsh winger his number one summer target, a move that will presumably be made easier if the North London club once again fail to secure a Champions League berth.

Andre Villas-Boas will be loathed to consider the loss of the 23 year old winger but as evidenced by the club’s sale of Luka Modric, if a ‘bigger’ club come calling then Tottenham may find it hard to keep hold of their top performers.

Bale is into his sixth season at the North London club and the past two campaigns have seen the former Southampton man mature into a very effective provider as well as growing into a feared goal-scoring asset himself. The free running attacker is clearly a player that many of Europe’s ‘Elite’ would like to nab and without the carrot of a spot in the Champions League it becomes harder for chairman Daniel Levy to repel advances of prospective suitors.
