Fulham Plot Move for ‘Japanese Ronaldo’ as Jol Looks to Boost Attack

Craven Cottage side keen on Catania forward.

Check-In to Fulham v Everton

Fulham boss Martin Jol is prepared to battle with his former club Hamburg for the signature of Catania’s Takayuki Morimoto.

Jol is believed to be on the lookout for a new forward despite new recruits Mladen Petric and Dimitar Berbatov impressing since their summer moves to Craven Cottage.

Quite why Martin Jol would feel the need to look to strengthen an attack that has managed a very impressive 19 goals in nine Premier League matches is confusing but nonetheless the West London side have set their sights on 24 year old Japanese international Takayuki Morimoto.

The former Tokyo Verdy player holds the J-League record for the youngest ever player, when he made his debut at the age of 15 back in 2004, and has forged an impressive career in Italy over the past few years that has started to garner the attention of a number of interested parties.

Likened to Brazilian Ronaldo due to his power and size, the Kawasaki born forward spent five years at Catania before being sent out to Novara before returning to the Sicilian side this summer.

Martin Jol has seen new signings Dimitar Berbatov, 3 goals in 4 Premier League starts and Mladen Petric, 3 goals in five starts, begin their Fulham careers relatively brightly and the former Tottenham boss also has Hugo Rodallega and Bryan Ruiz to call upon, making a possible move for Morimoto an odd one.
