According to German source 4-4-2.com Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a liking to German international Lars Bender.

The 23 year old midfielder has been in good form for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and has begun to attract a number of interested suitors. The former 1860 Munich player has enjoyed steady progress at the BayArena over the past three seasons and is now a regular in Joachim Low’s German national team set-up.

Lars Bender is a box to box midfielder who’s tireless running has been of great use to Sami Hyypiä’s side and it’s no surprise that a number of Europe’s ‘Elite’ would be taking an interest in the Bavarian born youngster.

Ferguson has had an eye to the future for some time, adopting a youthful transfer policy that has seen the club bring in the likes of David de Gea, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez in recent seasons and over the summer the Man United boss continued in the same vein by nabbing highly rated English teenager Nick Powell and Chilean forward Angelo Henriquez.

Lars twin brother Sven currently plies his trade with Borussia Dortmund and is similarly sought after.
