AC Milan have stepped up their interest in Chelsea target Vlad Chiriches, reports Tuttosport.
Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri is keen to bolster his defence after cashing in on Brazil star Thiago Silva earlier this year, and is believed to have identified Chiriches, the Steaua Bucharest defender, as the man to do the job.
Steaua Bucharest centre back Vlad Chiriches’s star certainly appears to be rising, becoming a sought after defender courted by Europe’s ‘Elite’ little more than six months after his move to the Romanian giants. This could well be down to a very industrious agent or down to some solid displays for both club and country.
Barcelona were linked with a move for the 22 year old over the summer and Lyon’s interest was noted last month. Of the two sides mentioned above one would have to say that AC Milan are in more dire need of central defensive reinforcements, having lost star defender Thiago Silva to PSG and started the season with five defeats in their opening ten matches of the campaign.
Even with John Terry moving towards the latter stages of his Blues career Roberto Di Matteo still has talents such as Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Branislav Ivanovic to call upon to fill central defensive roles so are not in any real need of strengthening at this point.
