Malaga may well struggle to keep hold of Spanish starlet Isco as the La Liga side continue to struggle financially having forked out huge sums to help secure a Champions League berth only to then have to cut costs to balance the books.

Santi Cazorla and Salomon Rondon were sold over the summer and 20 year old Isco may follow in January.

As this source points out a move for the former Valencia man could well act as an ideal replacement for veteran Paul Scholes but a fair few sides are also in the running for the Spanish Under 21 international.

Isco played his part last term as Malaga clinched their maiden Champions League finish and has been even more effective during the current campaign. The stylish midfielder has helped his side start the La Liga campaign solidly, Manuel Pellegrini’s side suffering just one defeat in nine matches as they currently sit behind runaway joint leaders Barcelona & Atletico Madrid.

However it is Isco’s Champions League form that will have most impressed as Malaga clinched three wins from their opening three group matches.

Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has adopted a youthful transfer policy over the past few seasons and may feel the need to further refresh a midfield that still depends too heavily on player in the latter portions of their careers with the likes of the aforementioned Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick still playing a significant role, though Tom Cleverley has made a real impact in the first team picture this term.
