Anfield midfielder wanted by Loftus Road side.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is even more determined to offload midfield flop Joe Cole after a lacklustre performance against Swansea City during the Anfield side’s Capital One Cup defeat last night and Ligue 1 side Lille are reportedly ready to make an offer to sign the 31 year old in January.

Cole enjoyed a fairly successful loan spell at the Stade Metropole side last term, helping Rudi Garcia’s side cement a Champions League berth but things have not gone all to well during Lille’s current campaign and this has led to the Les Dogues boss demanding funds to improve his squad when the transfer window re-opens.

Lille have sold a succession of top talents since they won the Ligue 1 title in 2010/11 and Garcia saw Eden Hazard move to Chelsea in a £32m deal over the summer and invested around a third of that fee in new additions which included the capture of Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou on a free transfer.

However Lille have struggled for form and have managed just three wins from their opening ten league matches and as a result sit in tenth place in the table.

Garcia is therefore looking to add more creativity to his squad and is a fan of Joe Cole, a player who is most certainly considered surplus to requirements at the Merseyside club and the Lille boss is said to be willing to make a €5m (£4m) offer that would surely be gladly accepted by Brendan Rodgers.
