Tottenham Plot January Move to Sign Bayern Munich Wide-Man

White Hart Lane side target Brazilian.

Check-In to Tottenham v Wigan

Tottenham have been put on red alert amid reports from Germany that Bayern Munich are willing to let Rafinha leave the club on loan in January.

Rafinha, who moved to Bayern Munich from Italian side Genoa in the summer of 2011, has been a peripheral figure at the Allianz Arena this season – he’s managed just nine minutes of league action and has failed to appear in the Champions League.

As a result, Bayern are considering letting the 27-year-old depart in the forthcoming January transfer window.

Tottenham’s apparent interest in Rafinha would suggest a need to beef up his right-sided options but one would wonder whether the Brazilian international wouldn’t just be swapping one bench for another.

The 27 year old former Schalke and Genoa man hasn’t started a game for the Allianz Arena side this term with the positions he can fill, right back and right wing, being primarily reserved for top talents Philipp Lahm and Arjen Robben.

Similarly Andre Villas-Boas has Kyle Walker and Aaron Lennon to play in these roles at White Hart Lane and both players have been in good form thus far this term so interest in Rafinha is somewhat odd.

The wide-man is an experienced campaigner and is no doubt looking to secure regular first team football and whilst that may well be best served by leaving his Bavarian side a move to Tottenham would not appear to be a long term solution worth considering.
