Bernabeu side linked with interest in the Stamford Bridge midfielder.
Spanish source Mundo Deportivo today claim that Real Madrid are lining up a move to sign Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata.
The Bernabeu side’s interest relates to a mysterious tweet Xabi Alonso mistakenly sent and then deleted that was seemingly meant for the private consumption of a fellow Spaniard who is a primary target of Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho.
This source states that the player in question could be Juan Mata, Man City’s David Silva and Athletic Bilbao’s Fernando Llorente.
The tweet above states ‘I told Mou to consider you, and in turn we will raise the profile of the team’ and has led to a great deal of discussion as to whom the message was meant for. All three players references have active Twitter accounts, indeed they can be followed at the following addresses @llorentefer19 @21LVA and @juanmata10
Chelsea would surely ignore any offers for their talented Spaniard, who has been hugely effective since he arrived at the West London club in August 2011. Last term the former Valencia man provided 23 assists and 12 goals as the Blues clinched the FA Cup and Champions League double.
This season he has formed a great relationship alongside fellow flair players Eden Hazard and Oscar, already notching up seven goals and eight assists from his opening 13 appearances of the season.
One could see why Mourinho would be greatly interested in bringing the Spanish international back to La Liga but it’s a move that Chelsea have no reason to even consider accepting.
