Roy Hodgson has opted for a youthful squad for what is seemingly a pointless friendly with Sweden just weeks after England’s last World Cup qualifying double-header.

Leon Osman gets his first England call-up age 31, and Liverpool duo Raheem Sterling and Jonjo Shelvey also get the nod. Jack Wilshere returns to national team duty after his lengthy spell out injured.

Celtic keeper Fraser Forster, who put in a man of the match display against Barcelona last night, also get’s a spot in the England squad.

Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Steven Caulker (Tottenham), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Ryan Shawcross (Stoke City), Kyle Walker (Tottenham).

Midfielders: Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), Leon Osman (Everton), Jonjo Shelvey (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Ashley Young (Manchester United).
