Emirates Stadium side target young left-back with great potential.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly lining up a January move to sign Southampton full-back Luke Shaw.
The teenage full-back has been on the Emirates Stadium boss’s radar for some months and having seen the 17 year old make his first Premier League start on the weekend the Gunners boss is readying a bid for the young defender.
Luke Shaw has been dubbed the ‘New Gareth Bale’ and is considered one of the hottest prospects in English football and it’s perhaps no surprise that Wenger would target the left-back having previously raided the South-Coast side to bring in Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Southampton boss Nigel Adkins will hope to keep hold of the youngster but knows that the temptation for the starlet to make a move to the North London club would be great.
Shaw will have seen many former Southampton graduates leave St Mary’s to go on to become full internationals and as such a move to Arsenal could well be on the cards.
Wenger is keen to bring in the young left back as the future looks uncertain for Brazilian Andre Santos after a series of poor displays. The Arsenal manager is looking for further options in this position as Kieran Gibbs has regular injury concerns.
