Man United will reportedly move to add a steely presence to his somewhat limp midfield by plotting a move to sign Tottenham midfielder Sandro.

The Brazilian’s performance at Tottenham’s 3-2 win at Old Trafford is said to have further interested the Scot who was already monitoring the youngster’s progress at the North London club and now the Man United boss is hoping to tempt the 23 year old into making a move away from White Hart Lane.

The former Internacional man is in his third season at Spurs and has taken full advantage of Scott Parker’s injury woes to make the defensive midfield role in Andre Villas-Boas’s starting eleven his own.

Sandro has started all of Tottenham’s Premier League matches this term and has excelled and this has led to a regular spot in Mano Menezes’s Brazilian national team set-up.

Having enjoyed some stellar displays in Tottenham’s Champions League run in his first season in the club’s first team, most notably against AC Milan, the young midfielder may well be keen on the opportunity to once again show his ability at the highest level and a move to Man United could indeed offer him just that.

With Tottenham having a somewhat stop start to the season a move to Man United could interest Sandro and Andre Villas-Boas may well fear the midfielder will have his head turned by interest from Old Trafford.

A move to Man United could be made all the more enticing due to the fact that national team colleagues Rafael and Anderson are already plying their trade at the club.

Sir Alex Ferguson may feel his side lacks an out and out defensive midfielder and though this is a role sometimes covered by veteran Paul Scholes it’s clear the veteran is not only in the latter stages of his glittering career but is also not renowned for his tackling.
