Old Trafford and Anfield target not likely to sign new contract.
Manchester United and Liverpool target Christian Eriksen has reportedly refused to sign a new contract and will seek a move away from Ajax next summer.
The Danish international’s contract is due to expire in 2014 and Ajax could be willing to listen to offers as they would not want him to leave on a free transfer.
Former Arsenal winger and Ajax director Marc Overmars confirmed the Dutch champions were trying to get the 20-year-old to sign a new deal but were finding it difficult.
‘We would like Christian to sign a new contract with us, but it’s not something he wants,’ he told Danish media outlet Sporten.
This news will certainly attract the attention of both Liverpool and Man United and could well spark a general bidding war for the talented young Danish international.
The 20 year old Ajax midfielder has helped his side to back to back Eredivisie titles but may feel that the lengths of his ambitions have hit a wall at the Amsterdam club and perhaps a move to the Premier League will appeal to Eriksen.
The youngster has performed well as Champions League level this season which would suggest he can make an impact outside the confines of the decidedly average Dutch top tier.
Come the summer Eriksen will have a year left to run on his contract and then his value will start to drastically decrease, leaving Ajax having to consider offers for his services.
As well as the two sides named Barcelona and Man City are also said to be keen on the starlet so Ajax may hope for a bidding war to ensue.
Frank de Boer saw a number of his big stars leave over the summer with Jan Vertonghen, Gregory van der Wiel and Vurnon Anita leaving for Tottenham, PSG and Newcastle United respectively.
