Former Liverpool Man Interested In Anfield Return: Ideal Addition to Boost Strike-Force

Anfield side the preferred destination for returning Premier League hot-shot.

Check-In to Arsenal v Tottenham

TransferMarketWeb claim that former Chelsea man Nicolas Anelka is interested in a move to Anfield. The 33 year old striker is strongly linked with a return to the Premier League after an unsuccessful stint in China and he could perhaps provide Brendan Rodgers with some much needed attacking support.

Anelka started his Premier League career at Arsenal prior to a big money move to Real Madrid which somewhat backfired. A return to his former club PSG helped to resurrect his fortunes which led to a loan move to Liverpool but Gerard Houllier opted to not make the move a permanent one and switched his attentions to El Hadji Diouf.

The 33 year old spent 18 successful months at Bolton, during which time he got his Premier League career back on track after a decent stint in Turkey with Fenerbahce.

During his time at the Reebok Stadium the Frenchman netted 23 goals in 61 appearances before he completed a £15m move to Chelsea.

Anelka spent four years at Stamford Bridge where he managed 59 goals from 185 appearances before he left to join Shanghai Shenhua but now seemingly open to a return from China and according to this source he hopes to move to Liverpool.

Currently Rodgers has just one fit senior striker, Luis Suarez, and even with unproven Fabio Borini will and available the Merseyside club could still do with alternative options and though the club has adopted a youthful transfer policy the injection of an experienced campaigner could well help to add balance to the Anfield squad.
