DONE DEAL: Arsenal Midfielder Joins London Rivals On Loan

Youngster completes loan switch.

Check-in to Arsenal v Montpellier

Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has joined Charlton Athletic on loan until January 1st 2013.

The Gunners battler has found first team football difficult to come by at Emirates Stadium, particularly since suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury during a similar loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Frimpong, 20, has been with Arsenal since he was just 9-years-old but Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger reportedly believes the youngster has no future in North London.

The Ghanaian-born starlet has become something of a cult hero with the Arsenal faithful for his behaviour on and off the pitch. Frimpong recieved a scolding from the FA after an offensive tweet to a Tottenham fan and has also become known for clattering opposition players with crunching challenges, leading to the term ‘Frimponged’.

Charlton boss Chris Powell was delighted to have landed the youngster.

“We’re really happy that he’s coming in to join our squad, and we welcome him to the club,” Powell told the the Addicks’ official website.

“We’ve had our eye on him for a while, and with the busy Christmas period to come, I felt it was right to make sure that we are covered in all areas.

“We hope that does very well for us in the red or black of Charlton.”
