Spaniard on the Loftus Road radar.
Italian source CalcioMercato claim that QPR are lining up a move to bring Spaniard Rafa Benitez in to replace Mark Hughes as the West London side continue to struggle this term.
Hughes was handed significant funds to improve a Loftus Road squad that narrowly avoided the drop last season but thus far the Super Hoops are still without a Premier League win and rock bottom of the Premier League table, leading to inevitable speculation that the Welshman is set for the axe.
This weekend’s home defeat to Southampton was perhaps the final nail in the coffin of Mark Hughes’ reign at QPR and owner Tony Fernandes will surely be considering his options and a move to bring in Benitez may well be a sound one.
The former Liverpool boss, who helped the Anfield side to a 2005 Champions League triumph, among other successes, has been out of work since he was sacked by Inter Milan in December 2010 and would presumably jump at the chance of a Premier League return, especially as the 52 year old is still based in England.
Benitez has also previously led Valencia to two La Liga titles.
