Mark Hughes has been sacked as manager of QPR – and Harry Redknapp has been appointed as his replacement.

Hughes’s assistant manager Mark Bowen will take Rangers, winless and rock-bottom of the Barclays Premier League, to Old Trafford tomorrow with former Tottenham boss Redknapp in the stands.

Much as Chelsea have sought to replace Roberto Di Matteo with Rafa Benitez in double quick time so have QPR, bringing in former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp hours after Mark Hughes was predictably axed by the West London side.

65 year old Redknapp has been out of work since being sacked by the White Hart Lane side in the summer.
