Arsene Wenger is set to have a war chest in excess of £70million to spend next summer after agreeing a lucrative five-year sponsorship deal with Emirates.

The £150m contract means Emirates will continue to adorn the Gunners’ first team shirts as well as advertising on their training kit and retaining naming rights of Emirates Stadium until 2028.

Clearly Arsenal fans are well aware of Arsene Wenger’s stubborn nature but they will hope that the French boss will indeed spend the money made available to him in order to improve an Emirates Stadium squad that is some way short of mounting a genuine title challenge.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis has made it abundantly clear that significant funds are available for Wenger to bring in new players, attempting to appease angry Arsenal fans who have watched as their side have slipped down the pecking order and gone seven seasons without any silverware whatsoever.

So who should the money be used to bring in?

Perhaps there is a need to bring in a new custodian given that Wojciech Szczesny and Vito Mannone haven’t been all that dependable of late. Maybe a defensive midfielder is needed to add steel to the centre of Arsenal’s side, Mikel Arteta currently having to manfully adopt a holding role due to the lack of an out and out enforcer.

Up front Arsenal are depending heavily on Olivier Giroud, who is fast improving, and therefore could do with some support especially since Wenger appears to favour using Lukas Podolski, Gervinho and Theo Walcott in wide attacking roles.

Why not use the comment section below to tell your fellow fans who Wenger should be forking out money for either in January or perhaps next summer.
