Man United & Inter Milan Could Be Set for Unhappy Star Swap

Old Trafford and San Siro sides consider player exchange.

TuttoMercato claim that Man United and Inter Milan could be willing to exchange players who have become unhappy with their respective clubs.

Dutch international playmaker Wesley Sneider, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford, has hit something of an impasse with his San Siro employers who have insisted that he will not be selected for first team action until his contractual issues are resolved.

This follows issues relating to the player’s apparent fitness, where it has been speculated that Inter Milan had claimed the former Ajax and Real Madrid man was unfit to play only for the 28 year old to insist that he was indeed ready for selection.

Sneijder was hoping to find his way back into Inter Milan’s starting eleven following a period out injured but initially struggled to persuade Andrea Stramaccioni to slot him back into the first team, with there being confusion as to whether the attacking midfielder was fit and ready to return, a fact that the flair player who keen to reiterate.

However Inter Milan managed very well without Sneijder, going on a run of seven straight wins, which included ending Juventus’s 49 match unbeaten run, furthering rumours that the player was now very much ‘surplus to requirements’.

Portuguese international Nani has also been partially frozen out of first team action and was the target of public admonishment following Man United’s defeat to Chelsea in the Capital One Cup.

Contract issues have also beset Nani’s future at Man United, with the 25 year old apparently wanting a large pay rise that the Premier League side are unwilling to match. The arrival of Shinji Kagawa has also had an effect on the spaces available for the former Sporting Lisbon man to fill and there was very real interest in the wide-man from Zenit in the summer.

The return to full fitness of Ashley Young and good form shown by Luis Antonio Valencia could well put paid to Nani’s Man United career. Indeed the attacker has made just four Premier League starts thus far this term.

Ferguson may well be happy to use Nani to pursue Sneijder and perhaps the Man United man would be interested in a new challenge in Serie A.
