Stamford Bridge side line-up offer for young Feyenoord centre-back.
Chelsea eye up £5million bid for Feyenoord rebel Stefan de Vrij
Chelsea are said to be ready to test Feyenoord’s resolve in January by lodging a £5million bid for their contract rebel captain Stefan de Vrij.
There is likely to be no shortage of takers, given that Arsenal, Newcastle and Sunderland are just a few of the names who have been to watch the centre-half in recent months.
But it’s Chelsea who hold the most substantial interest in De Vrij, and they’re believed to be ready to test the water with a £5million bid in January, to try and prise the prospect away.
Though Chelsea have a fair few top quality centre-backs at present it seems the West London side are sufficiently impressed with Feyenoord youngster Stefan de Vrij to consider an exploratory offer for the Dutch international.
The defender has reportedly turned down two contract offers from his Rotterdam side and this may well force the issue and leave the Eredivisie side open to offers for the young talent.
With John Terry seemingly being edged out of regular first team action by the likes of Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Branislav Ivanovic it is clear that Chelsea are well represented with options for the centre of the Blues defence but De Vrij has shown a great deal of quality over the past 18 months, form that has led to a couple of international caps.
A £5m offer may well be accepted by Feyenoord given that De Vrij will be out of contract in the summer.
