Anfield and Etihad Stadium sides keen on Real Betis playmaker.
LIVERPOOL and Manchester City are both in the hunt for Real Betis midfielder Benat.
Manchester City scouts are understood to have been keeping tabs on Benat, and saw him hit the winner in Betis’ 1-0 victory over Real Madrid.
Though City are looking to bring in another playmaker, Brendan Rodgers is keen on the midfield technician and could make a swoop for him.
The only downside for Rodgers is that Benat is understood to be valued at £15m which could prove a sticking point for The Reds.

Benat is a player who has hit a rich vein of form after a couple of consistent seasons at Real Betis. The midfielder’s form this term has brought him to the attention of the European football fraternity and his winner against Real Madrid last weekend has further demonstrated his very obvious ability.
The 25 year old Spaniard has been in inspired form over the past 18 months which has resulted in the playmaker being called up by Vicente del Bosque for national team duty in recent World Cup qualifiers.
The Basque born midfielder has helped Real Betis to an excellent start to the La Liga campaign, with Pepe Mel’s side sitting in fifth spot. Benat has already provided four assists this season and is a stylish performer who Rodgers may see as a long term proposition he could have to consider if he fails to lure Real Madrid star Nuri Sahin into signing a permanent deal with the Merseyside club.
Man City’s need for extra creative midfield options does not seem as urgent given that Roberto Mancini has the likes of David Silva and Samir Nasri to call upon but this may well not stand in the way of the Italian and yet another purchase.
