Luka Modric has claimed Real Madrid would be wise to add Gareth Bale to their squad to pair with Cristiano Ronaldo. “…the way he [Ronaldo] just runs with the ball with such confidence and defenders back off him is exactly the same as Gareth…To have them both in the same team would be unstoppable.”, said Modric in a report by The Sun.

The Wales winger would be tempted by the prospect of playing regular Champions League football to fulfill his dream of winning Europe’s biggest competition, Modric insisted.

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas, however was quick to deny any rumours and ruled out any chance of his star player moving away from White Hart Lane. “Like all of our key players, Gareth is on a long-term contract as we continue to build for the future and his progression will be of benefit to our team.”

After speaking to Bale, Modric issued a ‘warning’ to Tottenham, saying that if they wished to hold onto their prized asset, they would have to be competing year-in year-out in the Champions League. If not, Bale would be open to moving abroad. “He is an intelligent guy and is open to new experiences…I know he sees the value in playing abroad, so…he will have a big decision to make…for me Gareth is now the best and most dangerous [player in the Premier League].”

Modric will certainly be hoping for a reunion with Bale at the Bernabeu in the near future.
