Emirates Stadium side line up bid for Valencia defender.
Italian source CalcioMercato claim that Arsenal are eyeing up Valencia centre-back Adil Rami as Arsene Wenger looks to reinforce the Gunners defence.
The 26 year old defender may be more likely to consider an exit now that the Mestalla outfit has sacked boss Mauricio Pellegrino after a poor start to the season culminating in a 5-2 home defeat at the hands of Real Sociedad on the weekend.
One wonders why Arsene Wenger would feel the need to bring in another centre-back as he has three strong options in this regard at present. Per Mertesacker has been very consistent in his second term in the English top tier and Laurent Koscielny and Thomas Vermaelen are two of the best in the Premier League so do the North London club need to fork out for another central defender?
That said, back up options Johan Djourou and Sebastien Squillaci are both suspect and Rami is a very competent performer who would no doubt jump at the chance of a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Prior to his move to Valencia 18 months ago Rami spent four years at Lille, helping Rudi Garcia’s side to a Ligue 1 title success. The Corsican has notched up 24 French caps since his national team debut in August 2010.
