Chelsea Strongly Linked With Move for Adaptable Mexican International

Stamford Bridge side keen on young Olympic Gold medalist.

Chelsea have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Diego Reyes after his team Club America admitted that they will struggle to keep hold of the Mexico defender.

Reyes, who has spent his entire senior career at Club America, was part of the Mexico side that claimed gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

The 20 year old adaptable Mexican has been targeted by a host of European sides including both Benfica and Atletico Madrid but Chelsea are said to be very keen on landing the Olympic Gold medal winner.

The young Club America star was part of the Mexican side that triumphed over the highly fancied Brazilian to win the 2012 Olympic tournament and no doubt Chelsea’s interest may have stemmed from scouting missions during the summer.

Reyes can play in both the centre of defence as well as in a defensive midfield role and is a powerful tackler who is already a regular in the full senior Mexican national team set-up as well as being a key performer in Club America’s first eleven and is perhaps the latest in a long line of youthful talents the West London side is lining up as they continue to plan for the future.

Roman Abramovich has made it clear by his actions that he is at Stamford Bridge for the long term, having no qualms about the fact that veterans Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole are edging nearer the Chelsea exit whilst also stumping up over £80m to bring in six players over the summer, all of whom are aged 23 or under.
